If you want to take your studies more seriously, this is the program for you.

EDUCARE IN AMERICA
You give: 30 hours of childcare per week
You get: US$146.81 per week / approx US$7880 per year.
You study: 6 hours per week during term time - click here for EduCare colleges and universities
You get: Up to US$1000 study allowance
You need: At least 200 hours non-family childcare experience gained within the last 3 years

 You can apply if you:

  • are aged between 18 - 26 years
  • have a full driving license and are a confident driver
  • enjoy caring for children
  • have at least 200 hours recent non-family practical childcare experience gained within the past 3 years
  • are a secondary school graduate or equivalent
  • speak English to a good standard
  • have no criminal record
  • have no spouse or dependents
  • want to spend 12 months living with an American family 

We are happy to accept applications from participants who have already been an au pair in the USA and who successfully completed the program the first time round.



Gloria chose eduCare because she wanted to study more whilst looking after children. To help with her schedule, she was placed with a family with school aged children.

“I look after Jessie, who’s seven, and Ryan who’s eleven, and most of my duties are before and after school, which gives me loads of time to study. I chose eduCare because I wanted to study more whilst looking after children.

In the morning I make breakfast and drive the kids to school, then collect them around 3pm when it’s back to the house for a snack. I supervise homework, then we watch TV or they play outside until their mom gets home. In the evenings we all have dinner as a family and catch up on the day's events. In the evening I usually head out with friends for a movie or a coffee.”
