OUR PROGRAMS

This program is for experienced childcare professionals or those with a relevant childcare qualification.

AU PAIR EXTRAORDINAIRE
You give: 45 hours of childcare per week
You get: US$250 per week / approx US$13000 per year
You study: 3 hours per week during term time
You get: Up to US$500 study allowance
You need: Childcare qualification (click for qualification) or 2 years full time childcare experience

 You can apply if you:

  • are aged between 18 - 26 years
  • have a full driving license are are a confident driver
  • enjoy caring for children
  • hold a recognised childcare qualification - click for Qualifications; Or aged between 20 - 26 years with 2 years recent full time childcare experience as a nanny, childcare provider or nursery school teacher
  • are a secondary school graduate or equivalent
  • speak English to a good standard
  • have no criminal record
  • want to spend 12 months living with an American family
  • have been an au pair in the US before and have successfully completed your program (only applies to applicants repeating their US au pair experience)

 



”I live in Boston with my host family and I look after three children – Adam who’s ten, Matthew who’s three and baby Katy.

In the morning after preparing breakfast, I check that Adam has packed his homework and brushed his teeth, then it’s off to school for him and pre-school for Matthew. The rest of the morning is spent with Katy, taking her out for walks in the parks where lots of other au pairs also go. It’s nice to catch up with them and for the kids to play together. Then it’s back home at lunchtime with Matthew. Adam will go to his play dates or soccer practice in the afternoon, and around 5pm their mom gets home. I help her to get the family dinner ready or go out with my friends for the evening."
