An Au Pair in America Community Counselor made headlines when she invited au pairs and host families to her sixth annual trip to a pumpkin patch!
Last month, Christine Connally, our Community Counselor from Maryland, took au pairs and host families from her cluster to pick pumpkins in time for Halloween!
Au Pairs who got the chance to pick a pumpkin at the Queen Anne Farm in Mitchellville, Maryland were: Nan (Thailand), Ayanda (South Africa), Lissy (Germany), Sarah (Germany), Candy (China), Keila (Brazil), Irene (Spain) and Sun Ju (Korea).
In America, pumpkins are often used to make 'Jack O' Lanterns'. These are pumpkins with scary faces carved into them - a typical Halloween decoration. Pumpkins are also an essential ingredient for the traditional Pumpkin Pie served for Thanksgiving, which is on 26th November!
