INSURANCE

Medical expenses in the United States are high and the medical system may be quite different from that in your home country. Therefore, it is important that you understand the Insurance plan and the options offered by Au Pair in America.

What does the insurance cover?

All Au Pair in America participants are automatically covered (during their placement with a host family) by our Basic Insurance Plan , which includes:

  • $100,000 medical & accident cover
  • Up to $200,000 personal liability cover
  • $500 emergency dental cover

In case of a claim, what will you need to pay?

  • The first US$100 of medical bills for each accident or illness
  • $250 for each non-emergency visit to the ER.
  • Insurance coverage for your travel month
  • As with any insurance, there are specific exclusions to the coverage. More detailed information about insurance and our insurance plans will be sent to you.

What other options are available?

  • Increase your medical & accident cover to $500,000
  • Eliminate the US$100 per incident deductible
  • Reduce your baggage cover deductible to $100
  • Extend your cover to include your travel month

Your local agent will be able to provide more details.

Teeth, Eyes and Ears

It is wise to have a thorough dental check up before you leave for the US. If you wear glasses, contact lenses or a hearing aid, examinations and replacements are excluded from our insurance. Be sure your prescription is up to date and you know how to get replacements if necessary.

Automobile Insurance

Your host family is responsible for providing you with automobile insurance if you will be driving their motor vehicle in the US. Once you arrive in the US, it is important that you understand what coverage you have, and how much money you will be liable for if you have an accident and damage the car. Automobile insurance is not covered by an Au Pair in America Insurance Plan.
